Helmut Newton<\/strong> naci\u00f3 en Berl\u00edn el 31 de octubre de 1920 en el seno de una familia jud\u00eda acomodada, con el nombre de pila de Helmut Neust\u00e4dter, que us\u00f3 hasta los 26 a\u00f1os, cuando se llamar\u00eda Helmut Newton.<\/p>\n

Su padre era un rico fabricante de botones.<\/p>\n

Desde muy joven se interes\u00f3 por la fotograf\u00eda y a los 16 a\u00f1os, en 1936, empez\u00f3 a trabajar para el fot\u00f3grafo alem\u00e1n Elsie Simon alias 'Yva<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A su padre no le hizo ninguna gracia que Helmut quisiera ser fot\u00f3grafo y, tras los estudios elementales hasta las \"Leyes de Nuremberg\" que impusieron la separaci\u00f3n de los escolares jud\u00edos de los arios, lo envi\u00f3 a la escuela norteamericana de Berl\u00edn, donde lejos de ser un alumno correcto, s\u00f3lo le interesaban la nataci\u00f3n, las chicas... y la fotograf\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Un a\u00f1o antes del estallido de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en 1938, cuando ten\u00eda 18 a\u00f1os, huy\u00f3 de Alemania a Singapur y sigui\u00f3 trabajando all\u00ed como fot\u00f3grafo para el peri\u00f3dico 'Estrecho de Singapur<\/strong>‘.<\/p>\n

Fot\u00f3grafo Yva<\/strong> no pudo huir y muri\u00f3 en el campo de concentraci\u00f3n de Auschwitz.<\/p>\n

Al ser alem\u00e1n, las autoridades de Singapur lo encerraron durante un tiempo en un campo de internamiento y lo enviaron a Australia.<\/p>\n

Una vez liberado, se alist\u00f3 en el ej\u00e9rcito australiano hasta 1945, coincidiendo con el final de la II Guerra Mundial. Esos cinco a\u00f1os que sirvi\u00f3 a Australia como soldado raso le permitieron adquirir la nacionalidad australiana y en 1946 cambi\u00f3 su nombre por el de Helmut Newton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Abri\u00f3 su propio estudio fotogr\u00e1fico en Melbourne y all\u00ed conoci\u00f3 a la actriz June Browne<\/strong><\/a> (hoy tambi\u00e9n fot\u00f3grafo 'Junio Newton<\/strong>oAlice Springs<\/strong>') a quien dir\u00eda antes de casarse: \" Tengo un amor en mi vida, que es la fotograf\u00eda. Usted ser\u00e1 el segundo<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Se fue a Londres durante dos a\u00f1os para completar su formaci\u00f3n en el campo de la moda.<\/p>\n

Y se cas\u00f3 con June en 1948.<\/p>\n

Ella influy\u00f3 enormemente en su trabajo y pronto se convirti\u00f3 en un fot\u00f3grafo de moda ic\u00f3nico reconocido internacionalmente.<\/p>\n

Viajaba constantemente a Par\u00eds para realizar trabajos para las principales revistas de moda. Tanto es as\u00ed que decidi\u00f3 establecer all\u00ed su residencia.<\/p>\n

A partir de mayo de 1961, a los 41 a\u00f1os, fue colaborador habitual de Vogue, revista francesa que public\u00f3 sus mejores fotos durante 25 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n ha trabajado para las ediciones americana, italiana y alemana de Vogue, Linea Italiana, Queen, Nova, Jardin del Modes, Marie Claire<\/strong> y Elle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Su esposa June en 1970 se dio a conocer como fot\u00f3grafa bajo el seud\u00f3nimo de Alice Springs<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Inspiradas en el cine negro, el cine expresionista y el surrealismo, sus im\u00e1genes son pol\u00e9micas, provocadoras y muy voyeuristas por naturaleza.<\/p>\n

Fue pionero en la fotograf\u00eda de moda tanto por los escenarios en los que fotografiaba como por las actitudes en las que retrataba a las modelos. A diferencia del resto de fot\u00f3grafos de moda de la \u00e9poca, Newton no fotografiaba en estudio: prefer\u00eda hacerlo en mansiones de principios de siglo, elegantes villas y hoteles del m\u00e1s puro lujo.<\/p>\n

Newton traspas\u00f3 los l\u00edmites de la industria de la moda con sus provocativas im\u00e1genes y tuvo que escuchar c\u00f3mo se le tachaba de mis\u00f3gino.<\/p>\n
